DNR Warns of Wastewater Discharge in Anamosa
03/20/2008
Anamosa residents are being asked to stay away from Stallion Creek for the next day or two. On Wednesday, construction in Anamosa caused a break in a wastewater force main near the Second Street pumping station. The city operator installed trash pumps to re-route the untreated wastewater around the break and into a manhole. However, an estimated 50 to 100-thousand gallons of untreated sewage discharged into Stallion Creek which flows to Fawn Creek, a tributary of the Wapsi River. The city will be collecting water samples and testing for bacteria and other pollutants.
