Repairs Begin at Monticello Church Fire
03/20/2008
Repairs are beginning at a Monticello church after a fire nearly destroyed it earlier this month. A structural engineer is inspecting First Presbyterian Church this week. Officials are trying to determine what sections of the sanctuary can stay and what needs to be replaced. Clarence Hosford, who has been a member of the church for 62 years, recently donated one hundred dollars towards the rebuilding effort. Hosford is hoping they can save the church's stained glass windows.

Crews have been cleaning the educational center portion of the church this week. Pastor Al Polito says the center will reopen on Monday.
The church, which is 102 years old, was intentionally started on fire, though no one has yet been arrested in the case. While it's being rebuilt, members are attending the neighboring United Church.
