The West Delaware School Board has recently approved the contract for the school district's new Superintendent. Robert Cue will have a two-year contract, with a starting salary of over 115-thousand dollars. Cue will begin his new duties as head of the district July 1st.
Prior to Cue's hiring, several West Delaware administrators have been sharing Superintendent duties in addition to their own duties. The Board has approved to compensate Sue Daker, Ron Goerdt and Ron Swartz for their extra responsibilities at $17,000 each. The three have been sharing the duties since the passing of Superintendent Rick Hilbert last November.
West Delaware's budget for the upcoming school year has also been approved by the School Board. The budget will increase next year to over 26-thousand dollars. The tax rate of 13.53 is a four-point-five percent increase from the prior year.
Next year's school calendar has also been approved by the Board. West Delaware will begin classes Tuesday, August 19th, with early dismissals the first two days of school. Three make-up days have been planned into the calendar. The last day of school for the 08-09 school year is scheduled for May 22nd.
The School Board is discussing the parking plan for the street project for fiscal year 2009. TeKippe Engineering has asked the Board is they are interested in exploring the option of providing diagonal parking on Sherman Street near the high school practice field. The Board is currently looking into the costs and benefits, and will make their decision at the next meeting.
And several resignations and new hires have been approved at West Delaware. Rob Petsche has resigned as High School Social Studies teacher and Assistant Girls Varsity Track coach. Lisa Senne and Cheryl Jewett have resigned as Middle School Memory Book Advisors. And Steve Koeneke has been approved as the Summer Driver Education Coordinator for West Delaware following the resignation of Bill Lester.
