ST. LOUIS (AP) - Big Ten champion Iowa is ranked Number One
entering the NCAA wrestling championships and is trying to win its
first title since 2000.
Iowa goes for its 21st national team title at the tournament in
St. Louis, which runs today through Saturday. The Hawkeyes are
21-and-1 in dual meets, and are one of five schools to qualify nine
wrestlers for the event.
Eighth-ranked Minnesota won last year's championship and is
seeking its fourth national title in the past eight years.
Minnesota coach J Robinson says, "You don't defend a title; you
win a title."
Minnesota, Oklahoma State or Iowa has won the national title in
each of the last 18 years.
