Western Dubuque's Cusick Resigns as Basketball Coach
03/21/2008
Western Dubuque Boys Basketball Coach Wayne Cusick has stepped down after just one season with the Bobcats. His resignation was accepted by the Western Dubuque School Board earlier this month. Cusick had told the Activities Director he wasn't comfortable being a head coach, even though they asked him to stay. The school will review applicants for the vacant head coaching position, and Western Dubuque's associate head coach Dennis Geraghty has confirmed he is interested. Geraghty, who has over two decades of experience as a varsity head coach and guided West Delaware to the state tournament in 1999 and 2000. Western Dubuque has had a rough streak of losing seasons since winning the 2001 Class 3A State Championship under Coach Jeff Frick.
