Volunteers are needed to mentor kids in Delaware County.
This is National Mentoring Month, with a proclamation signed by the Delaware County Board of Supervisors on Monday. Ellen Krogmann with Helping Services encourages everyone to make a difference by signing up to be a mentor.
Youth mentoring in Delaware County connects kids with caring adults who can help them aspire, achieve and develop to their fullest potential. Mentoring is available to all Delaware County kids ages 6 to 16 in the West Delaware, Maquoketa Valley and Ed-Co school districts. And it doesn’t require a lot of your time.
Krogmann says right now, there are around 45 matches in Delaware County, with ten kids still waiting for a mentor. She says they are especially looking for adult male role models for boys on the waiting list.
If you would like to find out more about being a mentor, call Ellen Krogmann at 563-379-3454. Be sure to also check out the mentoring displays at the Edgewood library, Maquoketa Valley High School, F&M Bank, GNB Bank and the Manchester Public Library.
