Maquoketa Valley Trying to Navigate Plans During COVID-19

Maquoketa Valley is trying to navigate through all the changes brought on by COVID-19.

The school board met this week – via Zoom and social distancing – to discuss possible plans for the uncertain future that lies ahead. Superintendent Doug Tuetken:

Tuetken says Maquoketa Valley’s teachers have been in contact with students since school closed two weeks ago.

And they’re trying to come up with alternative plans for the events that are usually held in the spring.

Tuetken says he really appreciates everyone’s patience and understanding – and he says the outpouring of support and teamwork during this time has been outstanding.

The Maquoketa Valley School Board also discussed regular business this week. A budget hearing is set for next month, with a drop in the levy rate to $10.10. And they’ve hired for several positions, including 2nd grade, 5th grade, vocal music, industrial tech and middle school special ed.
