Ed-Co High School has announced its plans for graduation.
Commencement will be held next Sunday, May 17th at 1 pm. And due to the COVID-19 restrictions still in place for large gatherings, the ceremony will be moved to the school parking lot to allow graduates and their families to remain safe inside their own vehicles.
Ed-Co’s administrative team says they considered pushing graduation back to a later date, but there is no guarantee it would have allowed them to host a traditional ceremony.
They say this newly-revamped graduation ceremony will have parents parked in drive-in theater style, as the students walk from their vehicle up onto a flatbed trailer used as a stage to receive their diploma. Attendees should be limited to immediate family members and in as few vehicles as possible.
KMCH will be broadcasting the ceremony for those family members not invited to the parking area and Ed-Co will be livestreaming the commencement ceremony through the Ed-Co Facebook page.
At the end of Ed-Co’s ceremony, the seniors have elected to have a car parade in Edgewood for family and community members to wish them well.
