Four young women from northeast Iowa are among those in the running for the title of Iowa Dairy Princess.
The competition is taking place this week in Ankeny, with the new state princess to be crowned Thursday afternoon.
Among this year’s eight candidates are Abby Klostermann of Dyersville representing Delaware County, Amber Engelken of Earlville representing the Iowa Holstein Association, Megan Gronau of Durango representing Dubuque County and Megan Kueker of West Union representing Fayette County.
Julie Hammerand of Dubuque County served as the Iowa Dairy Princess this past year. Her reign will be completed at the end of the month, with the new Princess and Alternate beginning their duties on September 1st.
