A child was airlifted to the hospital after an accident in Jones County on Tuesday afternoon.
It happened at Highway 151 and Shaw Road south of Anamosa around 2 pm. The Iowa State Patrol says a northbound semi slammed on its brakes to avoid a motorcycle turning eastbound onto Shaw Road. A northbound pickup swerved to the left to avoid the semi, but struck it on the back left side of the semi’s trailer.
The driver of the pickup truck, 56-year old Martin Volk of Kearney, Missouri, was transported to Jones Regional Medical Center. A child passenger was airlifted to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
The semi driver, 65-year old Kelly Green of Lake Mills, Wisconsin, was not hurt.
