The City of Dyersville is renaming the town’s new pedestrian bridge after a city employee who passed away last year.
The Westside Park/Candy Cane Park Pedestrian Bridge is being renamed to the David Vorwald Memorial Bridge.
Vorwald gave thirty years of public service to the city, serving most of those years as the Public Works Director for the City of Dyersville, overseeing streets, parks, water and wastewater operations and public works enhancement projects. His health led him to reluctantly resign in July 2018. He passed away in January 2019 after a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma.
The City says Vorwald’s public service to the citizens of Dyersville has left an everlasting positive legacy for future generations and renaming the new pedestrian bridge in his honor was something they could do to honor his memory and dedication to the city and its citizens.
