Dorothy “Dottie” Anne Helmrich, 91, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. She was born on September 15, 1929, in Dyersville, the daughter of Henry and Edna (Leigh) Clemen. Dorothy attended Xavier Catholic School in Dyersville until 8th grade.
On September 1, 1949, Dottie was united in marriage to Merle “Casey” Helmrich at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester. Ten children were born to this union. Together they farmed south of Manchester until retiring to Manchester.
Dottie is survived by her ten children, David (Linda) Helmrich of Villa Park, Illinois, Daniel Helmrich of Texas, Stephen (Deborah) Helmrich of Powell, Ohio, Randall (Louise) Helmrich of Masonville, Julie Ann (Lisa) Helmrich of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Joan (Ronnie) Craig of Cedar Rapids, Thresa (Rodney) Saunders of Cascade, Anthony (Joellyn) Helmrich of Masonville, Barbara Helmrich of Cedar Rapids, Jeanne (Gary) Taylor of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; 26 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; her three sisters, Bernadette Fessler of Earlville, Jean (Roger) Palmer of Manchester, and Darlene Kafer of Manchester; her two brothers, Richard (Mary) Clemen of Manchester and Chuck (Joanne) Clemen of Backus, Minnesota, brother -in-law, John Pape of Edgewood; sisters-in-law, Kathy Clemen of Masonville and JoAnn Harris of Manchester, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle “Casey” in 1992, her parents; her sisters, Mary Catherine (Herman) Helmrich and Theresa Pape; her brothers, Robert (Helen) Clemen and Kenneth Clemen; grandson, Jarod Craig, and brothers-in law, Sylvester Kafer and Bob Fessler.
Because of COVID-19, masks are strongly recommended at the funeral home and at the church.
