Governor Reynolds Addressing Iowans on COVID-19 Tonight

Governor Kim Reynolds will give a live address to Iowans on COVID-19 later today.

The governor will speak at 6:05 pm on the need for Iowans to practice safe mitigation efforts. She will also announce new steps to fight the virus in order to protect lives, livelihoods, hospital resources and healthcare workers.

Reynolds’ address will be broadcast live on Mix 94.7 KMCH and kmch.com. It will also be livestreamed and posted in full on Governor Reynolds’ Facebook page. The governor’s office says her speech is expected to last about ten minutes.

The governor’s live address will be a rare event. According to Radio Iowa, Iowa governors deliver an inaugural address and, every January, Iowa governors give a formal speech to legislators, but this is the first time in modern history an Iowa governor has scheduled a night-time address to the state.
