Delaware Co. Fairgrounds Hosting Holiday Drive-Through Light Show

The Manchester community is starting a new holiday event this year – one that allows everyone to stay socially distant during the pandemic.

Delaware County Fair Manager Jeannie Domeyer says they’re creating a holiday drive-through light show at the fairgrounds.

This new event is called “Jingle Bright, Holiday Lights”. Manchester Chamber Director Ali Manson says after the Window Walk had to be cancelled due to COVID, they’re happy they are still finding a way to safely celebrate the holidays. “Jingle Bright, Holiday Lights” will run several weekends, kicking off on Thursday, December 3rd – the night the Window Walk would have been held.

The vehicles will come in through east end of the fairgrounds via Grand Avenue, taking a loop around the fairgrounds to pass by several dozen light displays. Each light display is being sponsored by a local business. Domeyer says they hoped to get at least ten displays sponsored this first year – but the response has been overwhelming, with 34 displays sponsored so far. And for those coming to check it all out, she says they’re just asking for a free will donation.

The proceeds will go towards making “Jingle Bright, Holiday Lights” even bigger and better next year, as the Fairgrounds and Chamber hope to make this an annual event – with hopes to bring the Window Walk back again next year too.
