West Delaware Bowling: Hawks open new season at Monticello

By Jon Swisher-Sports Director:

The 2020 West Delaware High School Bowling season will begin today down in Monticello. The Lady Hawks will try to replace four seniors who were part of a team that went 18-10 and finished 3rd at the state tournament last season. Reagan Recker, Alexus Riley, Kaley Pettlon, Lydia Heims and Kyleigh Marsden will lead the way for first year head coach Sue Morris who takes over for Ken Boesenberg. Coach Boesenberg retired in the off-season after 12 successful seasons at the helm, starting the program in 2007. WD beat Monticello twice in non-conference contests last season.

On the boys side, under the direction of head coach Bob Morris the Hawks are coming off a 17-17 campaign and look to fill the void of two seniors. Bowlers with experience returning include Carson Schnieders, Kalen Recker, Gabe Drinkwater and C.J. Rich. The Hawks split with the Panthers last season.

The first rolls will begin inside Legacy Lanes on the North side of Monticello at 4:00 this afternoon.
