Delaware County COVID-19 Case Count Update

Delaware County has seen another drop in active COVID-19 cases this week.

Delaware County Public Health announced Monday morning that the current active case count is 443 – down 103 from last Monday. It’s the second week in a row Delaware County has seen a decrease in active cases.

The county gained 54 new cases since last Monday – that’s the lowest number we’ve seen in several months. Delaware County has tallied 1,501 positive cases since the pandemic began. Nearly nine percent of Delaware County’s population has tested positive.

Two Delaware County residents are currently hospitalized – that’s down from five last Monday. The county also reported one additional death this week due to COVID, bringing the total to 22 residents lost due to the virus.

Delaware County’s positivity rate is also down this week – sitting at 14.2% compared to 20.3% last Monday.

And while numbers have been going down the past two weeks following the governor’s enhanced mitigation strategies, Governor Reynolds and health experts across the country warn we may see a surge in cases over the next two weeks as a result of Thanksgiving gatherings.

Delaware County Public Health continues to ask everyone to be part of the solution in slowing the spread of COVID-19 – avoid gatherings of more than 15 people, keep six feet distance from others, wear a face mask in public, stay home when able, wash your hands frequently, stay home when you’re ill (even mildly sick) and get your flu shot.
