Dyersville Student Nominated for Several U.S. Military Service Academies

A Dyersville student has been nominated to several U.S. military service academies.

Claire Wiese of Dyersville received nominations from U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, as well as the U.S. Merchant Marine.

Wiese was also nominated by U.S. Senator Joni Ernst for the U.S. Naval Academy, as well as the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

She was also nominated by Congresswoman Ashley Hinson for the U.S. Naval Academy.

Wiese was among several students from Iowa nominated for the academies.

As members of the U.S. House and Senate, Hinson, Grassley and Ernst have the opportunity to nominate current and future Iowa high school graduates for a select few service academy placements. Senator Joni Ernst says as a mother of a West Point cadet and a company commander who served over 23 years, one of the Senate duties she enjoys the most each year is nominating outstanding Iowa students to the nation’s Service Academies.
