Delaware County Public Health Preparing for Phase 1B COVID-19 Vaccinations

Delaware County Public Health will begin moving to the next phase of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout in February.

Phase 1A vaccinations have been going on since late December, with healthcare personnel and long-term care facility residents and staff getting vaccinated.

Phase 1B will begin no sooner than February 1st. Those priority populations in Phase 1B include anyone age 75 and older, as well as populations vulnerable to high risk of exposure of severity of illness – that includes people with disabilities living in home settings who are dependent on staff and the staff who take care of them, incarcerated individuals and correctional facility staff, first responders and teachers, school staff and daycare providers.

Delaware County Public Health says contrary to what federal partners and the CDC announced this week, there currently is not enough vaccine supply in Iowa to expand beyond Phases 1A and 1B.

Delaware County Public Health Coordinator Charity Loecke will join us as our Guest of the Day on KMCH Monday morning at 8:10 am to talk more about this latest vaccine rollout announcement.
