Buchanan County Farmer Honored with Pork All-American Award

A Buchanan County farmer has received a special honor from the Iowa Pork Producers Association.

Mark Nolan of Masonville was named the 2020 recipient of the Pork All-American Award at last week’s Iowa Pork Congress in Des Moines.

The Pork All-American Award honors producers younger than 40 years old who have established themselves as community leaders and successful and dedicated business people. They have also previously been presented with a Master Pork Producer designation, which Dolan won in 2017.

Nolan is a third-generation farmer and a member of the Buchanan County Pork Producers. After graduating from Iowa State, he spent two years working away from the family farm and returned in 2005 to operate the finisher portion of the family’s pig business. He said he feels lucky to be back living and working on the farm where he grew up, adding that the pork industry “offers opportunities for anyone who isn’t afraid to work hard.”
