Fatal Shooting in Ryan, Woman Charged with Murder

A Ryan woman is charged with First Degree Murder after a shooting early Monday.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office says the shooting happened at the Shady Acres Apartments on Belknap Street in Ryan. A 911 call came in at 1:14 am, with the caller reporting an argument and gunshot. Five minutes later, a second call came in to 911, with a woman who lives at the apartments saying her boyfriend had been shot.

27-year old Devon Hierrezuelo of Oak Lawn, Illinois, was found dead when authorities and emergency personnel arrived at the scene.

His girlfriend, 33-year old Danielle Weiner, told deputies an unknown male had entered the apartment and had been arguing with Hierrezuelo in the kitchen/living room area when the shooting took place.

Further investigation determined that the victim had been shot in the bedroom and was then moved down the hallway to the kitchen/living room area, with a bullet casing found in the bedroom. A handgun with blood on the end of the barrel was also found. There were no signs of forced entry into the apartment and no tire tracks in the fresh snow.

Weiner was arrested and has been charged with First Degree Murder. She is currently in the Delaware County Jail.

Manchester Police, the Jones and Linn County Sheriff’s Offices and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation assisted the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office with this investigation.
