Class 3A Regional Final and Class 4A first round contests took place in the coverage area last night.
One of our featured games last night was the West Delaware Girls traveling to face Dubuque Wahlert in a4A quarterfinal. The Hawks had their season come to an end with a 49-32 loss to the Golden Eagles. WD’s final record is 4-17 and they goodbye to seniors Mia Peyton and Lexi Hartman.
Our other game, a 3A Regional Semifinal in Solon saw the 15th-ranked Monticello Panthers push the No. 12 Spartans but couldn’t pull off the upset in a back and forth tussle that ended in a 50-48 overtime win for Solon. The contest featured 7 ties and 12 lead changes. The Panthers were led by Gabby Guilford with 20 points, 10 for Lydia Recker, 6 for Beka Prull, Karli Recker and Tori McDonald had 4, 2 for Bronwyn Hodge and Jaelyn Aitchison. Monti closed out with a 16-6 mark and they will bid farewell to 4 seniors- Guilford, Prull, McDonald and Karli Recker. Solon led by Freshmen phenom Callie Lavine with 24 points improved to 17-5 and move on to their first Regional Final since 2016 as they will face Davenport Assumption who beat CP-U last night.
Back in Class 4A, Western Dubuque was handed a 50-24 loss to Decorah. The Bobcats finish at 4-18 and will lose 1 senior in Abigail Kluesner.
Tonight it’s back to Boys play as the Basketball postseason continues with Class 1A and 2A 2nd round games with 7:00pm tip-off times.
Our featured game will come from 1A in Dunkerton, covering 11-11 Maquoketa Valley as they take on the 17-5 Raiders. All the coverage can be heard live on kmch.com and the KMCH Sports 2 App with Sports Director Jon Swisher and MV A.D. Trevor Arnold around 6:55pm.
Elsewhere- Ed-Co entertains Turkey Valley in Edgewood.
In 2A- Beckman hosts Jesup and Anamosa heads down to Goose Lake to play Northeast.
