Day number two of the Girls Basketball state tournament saw our KMCH Sports coverage area teams go 1-1. In the first Class 2A Quarterfinal, No. 1 Maquoketa Valley improved to 24-0 with a comeback victory over Rock Valley. It was a slow start for MV as they trailed by 10 at the end of the first quarter. They outscored the Rockets 15-6 in the second period only down by 1 at the break. A 17-5 third quarter put the Wildcats up for good leading by 11 heading to the fourth on the way to a 51-35 win. Ella Imler led MV with 20 points, 12 for Emerson Whittenbaugh, 10 for Taya Tucker, 6 for Kennedy Rausch and Kylie Chestnut had 3. The game featured no ties and only 1 lead change.          Maq. Valley advances on to face the 4th-seed Nodaway Valley on Friday morning at 10:00 with all the coverage here on Mix 94.7.

The 5th-seed defending 2A state champion North Linn fell to Nodaway Valley 53-47 in a contest that the Lynx never led in. North Linn closes out their season at 21-3 and says goodbye to two seniors- Ellie Ware and Maddie Stepanek.

Today Class 1A play begins after the final two 2A quarterfinals. Springville will open up 1A taking on Bishop Garrigan of Algona at 2:00pm.

The final two brackets of the Boys Basketball State Tournament were released last night.

In Class 3A-

The two coverage area teams will play next Tuesday night. The Panthers got the 7-seed and will take on Pella at 6:00pm. The Bobcats are No. 3 and will play Sergeant Bluff-Luton at 8:00pm.
