The new Delaware County communications tower should be going up soon.
The tower, which will be located at the new jail site on the west end of Manchester, will provide better communication among emergency personnel, including dispatchers and deputies.
County Supervisor Shirley Helmrichs says the new tower will be delivered shortly. On Monday, the Board of Supervisors approved purchasing the tower from Finish Tower for just under $30,000. The company will also pour the cement foundation for the tower at a cost of $20,000.
In other county news, the Board also held a public hearing on an application for a confined feeding operation southeast of Petersburg. John Bagge would like to tear down an older hog building and replace it with a new one – keeping the capacity at 600 head. The Board says they’ll send a letter of recommendation to the Iowa DNR.
