Manchester Man Sentenced for Shooting at Landlord and Police Officer

A Manchester man has been sentenced for shooting at his landlord and a police officer last year.

34-year old Kenneth Noble was set to stand trial earlier this spring on two counts of attempted murder, but he accepted a plea deal instead. He pleaded guilty to two felony counts of Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon and Assault on a Peace Officer by Use or Display of a Dangerous Weapon.

Police were called to Noble’s apartment at 308 ½ North Brewer Street in Manchester on February 20th, 2020. The landlord, Steve Broghammer, had requested assistance from police to enter Noble’s apartment to make repairs since no one was answering the door. As Broghammer entered the apartment, Noble fired a gun, nearly striking him in the head. The police officer, Captain Rick Carnicle, advanced his position and Noble then fired the gun in his direction, with Carnicle returning gunfire in self-defense. No one was injured during the gunfire exchange.

Last week, Noble was sentenced to 15 years in prison – but only after he tried retracting his plea. The court denied it without a hearing, noting that he does have the right to appeal.
