Sentencing Set for Former Ryan Woman Convicted of Murdering Husband

Sentencing has been set for Revette Sauser, the former Ryan woman convicted of killing her husband a decade ago.

Sauser stood trial last week for fatally shooting her husband, Terry Sauser, at their Ryan home in 2011. A Clayton County jury found her guilty of First Degree Murder last Friday afternoon.

Sauser originally took a plea deal in 2012, pleading guilty to second-degree kidnapping and lesser charges with the murder charge dropped. She served about nine years of a 40-year prison sentence. But the Supreme Court sent her case back for an actual trial after she appealed that there was no factual basis for the kidnapping charge.

Sauser’s sentencing is scheduled for June 1st at 1:30 pm in Black Hawk County. A First Degree Murder conviction carries an automatic sentence of life in prison without parole.
