Manchester Honored with Tree City USA Award

The City of Manchester has been honored with a Tree City USA award.

City Parks and Rec Director Doug Foley says the recognition comes on behalf of the Arbor Day Foundation and the Iowa DNR. The community must meet certain criteria, such as planting trees and having a sufficient budget allocated for trees.

Foley says they recently planted over 150 tree and shrub seedlings along the new nature trail on Brewer Street and in and around the wastewater plant – with West Delaware’s seniors helping with this project on Senior Service Day.

Several other local communities were also recognized with a Tree City USA award, including Hopkinton, Luxemburg and Oelwein.
