ATVs Allowed in Dyersville Six Weekends in 2021

ATVs will be allowed in Dyersville several weekends this summer.

The Dyersville City Council on Monday night approved an ATV Ordinance. The City had been approached by a group of riders and supporters in January, with discussions taking place over the past few months.

The ATVs and ORUVs may be operated on city streets and alleys in compliance with all requirements in the code, which was modeled after the City of Manchester.

The City will test the ordinance by offering six weekends this year that the ATV and ORUV riders may come into Dyersville. The first weekend they’ll be allowed in town is this weekend – June 11th through the 13th from sunrise to sunset. The other five weekends include June 25-27, July 9-11, July 30-August 1, August 27-29 and September 24-26, also from sunrise to sunset.

There are several areas in Dyersville that the ATVs and ORUVs will not be allowed, including Highway 20, trails, sidewalks and city parks.

The entire ordinance and the road map of where the ATVs and ORUVs will be allowed can be found on the City of Dyersville’s website at cityofdyersville.com.

City council member Mike English was the only one to vote against it, noting in earlier meetings that many people are opposed to the ordinance.
