The West Delaware Baseball team traveled down to Solon last night and was able to get both games in despite an hour and forty eight minutes of two different weather delays in game one. The Hawks lost the first contest 12-2 in 6 innings. The second game started just before 9:00 and it saw a recharged Hawks teams, they battled Solon the whole way but fell 7-6 in a game that ended just a minute before 11:00. WD’s record fell to 6-12 and they will be off now until Monday night when they host Mount Vernon.
WD Hawks Softball split with Maquoketa, winning game one on a walk-off home run by Alissa Holtz in the bottom of the 7th 3-2. The Cardinals edged the Hawks in the nightcap 7-6. WD returns to action today as they host the annual WD Softball Tournament held at the Beckman Sports Complex. The first games will begin at 9am, live coverage can be heard on kmch.com and the KMCH Sports 2 App with Sports Director Jon Swisher and Bill Logan, the Hawks first game is slated for 10:45am as they face Kee High.
