David J. Perry, 59, of Hazelton, IA died peacefully at home on Wednesday June 23, 2021, in rural Hazelton.
David was born on January 3, 1962, in Manchester, IA, the son of LaVerne and Loretto N. (Usher) Perry. He was a 1980 graduate of Oelwein Highschool. Dave was a dairy farmer at heart. He for ten years he tended to his farm and dairy cows just outside of Fairbank, IA. In 2012, David moved back to Hazelton to be closer to family and help around his parents’ farm. David had a good work ethic; for many years worked for himself. He and his brothers learned to sheer sheep from his father. He would often help his father and other farmers at sheering time.
David enjoyed talking with his family and friends. He had a large circle of friends and could always find more wherever he went. He loved spending time with his son Austin. He was always proud of to watch Austin’s football games and wrestling matches.
He is survived by his mother, Loretto Perry, Hazelton, IA, a son, Austin Perry, Hazelton, IA, a stepdaughter, Nikkie Leyh, Crowley, TX, his brothers, Mark (Joni) Perry, Springhill, KS, Steve (Tammy) Perry, Maxwell, IA, and Phil (Erin) Perry, Oelwein, IA, and several nieces.
David was preceded in death by his father LaVerne Perry, and his grandparents.
A Funeral Service will be held at 7 PM on Monday, June 28, 2021, at the Reiff Family Center – Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence, IA. Visitation will be from 5 PM until 7 PM on Monday.
