Two barns were destroyed in separate fires in Dubuque County over the weekend.
The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office says the first fire broke out Saturday at 7:15 pm at the Reuter farm at 16797 Herod Lane north of Asbury. The fire originated in the barn and damaged several other buildings, including the home. Total damage was estimated at $400,000. The cause of the fire is unknown, but does not appear to be suspicious. The investigation is ongoing.
And the Sheriff’s Office says fire departments also responded to a barn fire on Sunday at 8:15 am at Dave Heim’s property at 22181 Heim Road northwest of Luxemburg. The barn contained 75 large round bales of hay, as well as cattle handling equipment. The barn was a total loss. Damage was estimated at $100,000.
No animals were injured in the fires.
