In Regional Final Softball last night:
The West Delaware Hawks were denied of their of 3rd trip to state in a row and 16th overall appearance as Western Dubuque prevailed winning 6-3 in front of nearly 800 fans at Farley City Park. The Bobcats advanced to Fort Dodge for the first time since 2008 and second time in program history. The Hawks finish at 27-10 and say goodbye to 6 seniors- Eva Winn, Heather Heims, Alissa Holtz, Lexi Hartman, Mia Peyton and Eve Wedewer.
32-7 Western Dubuque earned the 2-seed in the 4A bracket and will take on the 7-seed 18-14 North Polk on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00.
In Class 2A, North Linn the 2nd seed will face the 7th-seed Iowa City Regina at 5:00 on Monday.
District Baseball from last night:
In the Class 2A District 9 semifinals at Jenk Field in Dyersville, Cascade ended Anamosa’s season with a 7-0 win to improve to 19-9. The Cougars will play rival Beckman in a District Final Saturday night in Dyersville. The Blazers outlasted Northeast 3-2 in 9 innings.
In 1A, Maquoketa Valley won their 21st game with a 3-0 victory over Easton Valley. The Wildcats will go up against North Linn near Troy Mills on Saturday night. The Lynx beat Bellevue Marquette at home 12-5.
