The Independence Lions Club is celebrating 90 years this weekend.
They invite everyone to join them Sunday for a fun afternoon at the open-air pavilion at the Buchanan County Fairgrounds.
From 11:30 to 1:30, they’ll be serving a ribeye steak sandwich or hamburger platter by the Buchanan County Cattlemen, along with ice cream from the Buchanan County Dairy Producers.
There will also be entertainment by Mr. Nick the Balloon Man from 11:30 to 1 and the Bruce Bearinger Band from 12:30 to 2:30.
Free will donations will be accepted, with all profits donated to the Independence Area Food Pantry.
And bring along any used glasses or hearing aids for the Lions’ hearing aid and glasses drives.
There will be limited seating, so feel free to bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the afternoon.
