Candidates for Mayor Announced in Delaware County

Three communities in Delaware County will be welcoming a new mayor next year.

Manchester, Dyersville and Colesburg will each have someone new leading their cities as their current mayors are not running for re-election.

For the first time in nearly five decades, Manchester will have a new mayor. Longtime mayor Milt Kramer announced this summer he would be retiring after 47 years in office. Two candidates are running to fill his seat – current city council member Connie Behnken and former city council member Jeff Ogden.

Dyersville’s mayoral seat is also open this year, as Mayor Jim Heavens is not seeking re-election. The two candidates running for Heaven’s seat are Al Haas and Jeff Jacque.

And Colesburg residents will also be voting for a new mayor as Rex Meyer is not running for re-election. Tom Forkenbrock and Carl Scherbring are the two candidates hoping to fill his seat.

Several mayors are running for re-election unopposed this November – they include Greg Preussner in Delhi, Barb Robinson in Dundee, Dan Wheeler in Earlville, Jim Stone in Edgewood, Dave Kruse in Greeley, Bill Alden in Masonville and Mike Corcoran in Ryan.

And there are a couple of new candidates running unopposed for mayor, including Lonny Fishler in Delaware and Cathy Harris in Hopkinton.

Election Day is November 2nd – and voters will also be deciding on city council and school board candidates as well. We’ll take a look at city council candidates for the communities across Delaware County coming up in tomorrow’s KMCH Local News.
