Anamosa Pumpkinfest Returns Saturday

Anamosa Pumpkinfest is this weekend – an annual event that will help get you in the fall spirit.

Committee members Angela Winekauf and Katie Gombert say they’re excited to be back this year with a special theme. The theme “We Remember” coincides with the 20th anniversary of 9/11.

The majority of events will take place on Saturday – and the highlight of Anamosa Pumpkinfest is the Ryan Norlin Giant Pumpkin Weigh-off, which started in 1989 in memory of Gombert’s brother.

You can find out who the big winners are at the Pumpkin Weigh-off awards ceremony – that starts at noon at the Lawrence Community Center, with the pumpkins on display until 4 pm.

Meanwhile, the Anamosa Pumpkinfest Parade kicks off at 2:15 pm on Saturday.

You’ll find a few returning favorites at Pumpkinfest, such as food and craft vendors, kids’ games, an escape room and a pumpkin carving exhibit. And there will be some new attractions too.
