West Delaware Celebrating Homecoming

It’s Homecoming for West Delaware, with the parade making its way through Manchester earlier this afternoon.

This year’s Grand Marshall is Darla Weber. West Delaware’s 1996 Homecoming King and Queen – Carl Johnson and Krista Burkle Jepsen – will also be honored, along with last year’s King and Queen, Christian Nunley and Laney Demmer.

This year’s West Delaware Homecoming Court includes Lucy Loecke, Laney Robinson, Carlee Smith, Haley Hamm and Kayla Felton, as well as Trevor Soppe, Wyatt Voelker, Cody Monaghan, Raub Loecke and Kyle Cole.

New royalty will be crowned tonight after the freshman football game. The West Delaware Hawks are taking on the South Tama Trojans at Brown Field, with the freshman game starting at 5 pm and the varsity game at 7:30 pm.

The students have been celebrating Homecoming all week with dress-up days including “USA Monday”, “Family Day Tuesday”, “Pajama Wednesday”, “Throwback Thursday” and “Spirit Day” on Friday. The high school hallways were also decorated with board game themes of Candy Land, The Game of Life, Clue and Monopoly.

Powderpuff Volleyball was held Thursday night, followed by the Car Bash in the parking lot of Prospect Street. And students participated in Homecoming Olympics on Friday afternoon before the parade.

West Delaware’s Homecoming Week will wrap up with the Homecoming Dance on Saturday night from 8 to 11 pm in the high school’s Upper Gym.
