Manchester Man Injured in Peosta Shooting Early Tuesday

Authorities say a Manchester man was injured in Tuesday morning’s shooting in Peosta.

The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office was called to 110 Peterson Drive #16 around midnight for a possible burglary in progress with one person shot. The Peosta Police Department, Iowa State Patrol and Centralia/Peosta Fire Department also responded.

The Sheriff’s Office says 29-year old Desmond Jimerson of Manchester was involved in Tuesday’s disturbance.

The Sheriff’s Office says 27-year old Rachel Wright had just returned home to Peterson Drive. Jimerson arrived shortly thereafter and was standing outside talking with the homeowner, 34-year old Marcus Neal. Neal told Jimerson to leave and as Neal attempted to shut the door, Jimerson started to push the door open to force entry into the home. Neal then pulled out a handgun and shot Jimerson multiple times while Jimerson was inside the home.

Jimerson was transported to MercyOne Hospital in Dubuque for gunshot injuries and is currently in stable condition.

Charges against Jimerson are pending.
