Three girls were injured in a UTV accident in Buchanan County on Saturday afternoon.
The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 12:15 pm in the 1300 block of 275th Street southeast of Jesup.
According to the investigation, a Polaris UTV operated by a 13-year-old girl was traveling eastbound when she lost control. The UTV entered the north ditch and rolled over, coming to rest on its wheels. The driver and two passengers, a 12-year-old girl and a 9-year-old girl, were not wearing safety belts and were thrown from the vehicle.
The driver sustained minor injuries, but did not require emergency transport. The 12-year-old and 9-year-old passengers were transported to an area hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
This accident remains under investigation.
The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Jesup Fire Department, Jesup Ambulance Service and AMR Ambulance Service.
