Two people died in a head-on collision in Buchanan County on Monday.
It happened around around 3 pm south of Hazelton on Highway 150 just north of 140th Street.
The Iowa State Patrol says a car driven by 40-year old Nicholas Johnson of Oelwein was southbound when he crossed the centerline and hit a northbound pickup head on. Johnson and the driver of the pickup, 70-year old John Friend of Davenport, died in the crash. A passenger, 65-year old Pamela Robinson of Davenport, was injured and airlifted to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
The State Patrol says a third vehicle, driven by 33-year old Rose Recker of Arlington, was also involved in the accident. Recker was driving behind Friend and her SUV was struck by debris from his pickup.
The accident remains under investigation.
