The West Delaware School Board’s Director District 1 seat is up for grabs in this year’s election, with incumbent Dan Hogan not seeking re-election.
Two candidates have filed to run for his seat – Debi Powers and Jamie Vaske.
Debi Powers grew up locally in Delaware.
Powers says she decided to run for the school board following an incident with the school three years ago that involved her son, who was in 8th grade at the time.
Powers says if she’s elected to the West Delaware School Board, she’d like to scale back the school district’s budget.
Powers will face Jamie Vaske for the West Delaware School Board Director District 1 seat. Vaske was born and raised in Manchester and graduated from West Delaware in 2006.
Vaske says he became interested in running after watching the West Delaware School Board meetings online during the pandemic.
Vaske says there are a couple areas he’d like to focus on if elected to the school board.
