It appears Delhi will have a new mayor next year.
Marty Kelzer has been declared the unofficial winner in Tuesday’s election for Delhi mayor.
The election results released by the Delaware County Auditor’s Office on Tuesday night showed 89 votes for current mayor Greg Preussner, as well as 111 write-in votes – though no write-in names were released at that time.
On Thursday afternoon, the Auditor’s Office released further details about the write-in votes, which show Kelzer received 108 of the 111 write-in votes. The other three write-in votes were scattered.
Kelzer publicly announced his campaign as a write-in candidate one week before the election.
Eight candidates were also running for three open seats on the Delhi City Council, with Aran Klostermann, Craig Davis and Al Freiburger named the unofficial winners.
Brianne Wulfekuhle was also the unofficial winner of the race to fill a vacancy on the Delhi City Council, receiving 103 votes. Write-in candidate Joe Vorwald received 75 votes, with an additional eight scattered write-in votes as well.
Election results will become official after Delaware County canvasses the votes on Monday.
