Duane “Pinky” Clayton Haight, 79, of Manchester, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. He was born July 4, 1942, at Manchester, the son of Frank and Edith (Smith) Haight. Duane was raised in the Manchester area and graduated from Manchester High School in 1960.
On September 30, 1961, Duane was married to Shirley Miller at Immaculate Conception Church in Masonville. Four sons were born to this union. Early on in life Duane farmed with his father. Duane was a Manchester police officer for four years. He also worked as a machinist at FMC in Cedar Rapids and Hutchison Lumber as a truck driver for many years.
Duane was a long-time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and anything to do with outdoors. Duane enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s activities and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Shirley Haight of Manchester; his four sons, Mark (Lori) Haight, Matt (Jennifer) Haight of Columbia, Missouri, James (Celine) Haight and Jason (Stacey) Haight of Manchester; 5 grandchildren, Rachel and Clayton Haight, Parker and Spencer Haight and Kyle Haight; one sister-in-law Angela Haight of North Liberty;
Duane was preceded in death by his parents; his brother John in infancy and his brother Ronald “Red” Haight.
