KMCH officially celebrated its 30th anniversary on Sunday.
It was December 5th, 1991 when the station first signed on the air. Owner Jim Coloff says the radio station got its start with his parents, Tony and Sue Coloff.
But he says trying to get a new radio station off the ground thirty years ago in northeast Iowa wasn’t easy.
In his early career, Coloff not only owned and managed KMCH – he also spent his first years at the station on the air with co-host Jim Dalton. The station was first located in the old professional building next to Hardees’ – and after getting flooded, the station made the move to its current location downtown next to the Manchester police station in 2003. Coloff says looking back, KMCH has really grown from those early days in 1991 to what it is today.
And Coloff says he’s excited for the station’s next 30 years.
