Local farmers who are just getting started in their career, farmers looking to expand or anyone hoping to get into farming can get some helpful advice during a couple of upcoming programs in Manchester.
ISU Extension and Outreach Delaware County is hosting a dinner and program at the Extension Office in Manchester this Thursday night, December 9th, and next Thursday night, December 16th. The program is called “Expanding Horizons: Early Career and Beginning Farmer Strategies”.
Farm & Agribusiness Management Specialist Melissa O’Rourke says it’s their mission to support farmers at any age and any stage in their career. And she says getting into farming isn’t always easy.
The program will be split into two nights, with such topics as building your farm resume.
O’Rourke says they’ll be covering around a dozen topics centered around farming.
She says even if you think it’s something you don’t need, it’s probably good to have the conversation and get your plans in writing.
The “Expanding Horizons: Early Career and Beginning Farmer Strategies” programs will run from 6 to 8 pm this Thursday and next Thursday night, with a light supper at 5:30 pm at the Extension Office in Manchester. It is free to attend, but seating is limited so pre-registration is required – call 927-4201 or you can register through the link on the ISU Extension & Outreach Delaware County Facebook page.
