HS Wrestling: Hawks Open WaMaC Dual Season With Double Dual

The West Delaware wrestling team will open WaMaC Conference competition tonight as they hit the road to Mount Vernon to take on the host Mustangs and Solon. The Hawks are 0-1 this season after their opening night loss to top ranked in class 3A Waverly-Shell Rock last Thursday at home but wrestled well on Saturday at the Bob Murphy Invitational as they crowned five champions and scored nearly 300 points on their way to the team title.
The Hawks will start the night against Solon who they currently have a five dual winning streak against dating back to their meeting in the 2017-2018. West Delaware owns a 12-3 overall series record since their first meeting in 2009, one of those wins for the Hawks came in finals of the 2019 State Duals which they won 45-12. Solon will be without their three-time state champion Hayden Taylor as he announced last week that he will be having season ending surgery.
The Hawks will end the night against Mount Vernon who they own a 10-3 overall record against dating back to the 2009 season. The Hawks have beaten the Mustangs four straight times including last season’s 73-3 win in Manchester.
Both duals can be heard live on KMCH and at our website KMCH.com starting around 6:00 with Roger Reed and Jamie Vaske.
