Campground hosts are needed at Backbone State Park for the upcoming recreation season.
The Iowa DNR is seeking volunteers who enjoy camping, the outdoors and meeting new people.
Campground hosts will greet visitors, assist campers with reservations and checking in and act as a liaison between campers and DNR staff. They also clean bathrooms and perform some light maintenance and administrative duties on the grounds.
Volunteer campground hosts live in state parks from one to five months. They are provided a free campsite while they are actively hosting during the camping season. Hosts volunteer between 20 and 40 hours a week, including weekends and holidays, while living on site in their own camper.
If you’re interested in being a volunteer campground host at Backbone, you can contact the park directly or call 515-443-2533.
