Darwin D. Jones – Arlington

Darwin D. Jones, 78, of Arlington, Iowa, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday afternoon, December 15, 2021, at Regional Medical Center in Manchester.

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Monday, December 20, 2021, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Arlington with Rev. Josh Hansen officiating.

Visitation: 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Sunday and for one hour before the service on Monday at the funeral home.

Interment with Military Graveside Service: Strawberry Point Cemetery, Strawberry Point, Iowa.

Darwin Dean Jones was born on March 16, 1943, in Fayette, Iowa, the son of Howard Lang & Eileen (Adams) Jones. He received his education at the Lamont Schools. Darwin then worked for two area farmers and then was hired at the Maquoketa Valley Creamery (A.M.P.I.). He worked there until he was notified by Uncle Sam to report to Army Headquarters in Des Moines. Darwin was sent to Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri and then to Fort Knox, Kentucky. He honorably served in the United States Army in Korean for thirteen months. He returned to Iowa and resumed his work at the creamery. Darwin was united in marriage to Lauretta Lou Beltz on November 26, 1966, in Arlington, Iowa. They were blessed with two children, Laurie and Darrin. Darwin and Lauretta lived at rural Arlington for many years.

Darwin was a member of the Arlington United Methodist Church and the Strawberry Point American Legion. Darwin was a tender-hearted man who cared deeply for his family and all of his many friends. He told his family, when he was gone, to remember the good times and to be happy when sharing all of their memories of him.

Darwin is survived by his 2 Granddaughters: Nikki Maker (Dustin Chettinger) of Garber & Sammi Maker of Manchester; 2 Great Grandchildren: Tori Chettinger and Paytin Chettinger; Brother: LaVerne (Rita) Jones of Manchester; Sister-In-Law: Gwen Jones of Lamont; Special Niece & Nephew: Roni & Kayla Ramsey and many Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.

Darwin was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Lauretta; son: Darrin Jones; daughter: Laurie Maker; son-inlaw: Gary Maker; brothers: Verle Jones & Donald Jones; sister-in-law: Leota Egan and brother-in-law: Dan Egan.
