Several Dubuque County fire departments responded to a structure fire south of Holy Cross on Monday afternoon.
It happened around 1:30 pm at 17529 Holy Cross Road. The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office says they, along with fire departments from Holy Cross, Farley, New Vienna and Epworth, responded to the property. A farm building, owned by Dan Ploessel, was found to be fully engulfed in flames. The adjacent building also sustained significant structural damage from the fire.
The total estimate of damage between both structures and the contents inside was $50,000.
The incident is still under investigation.
