Two local recruits graduated from Basic Academy earlier this month.
The Iowa Department of Public Safety says Drew Wilgenbusch of Dyersville and Travis McNally of Monticello were among 24 recruits sworn in as peace officers for the State of Iowa.
For the past twenty weeks, these recruits have completed courses on laws of arrest, search and seizure, defensive tactics, arrest techniques, firearms, emergency management services, criminal law, human relations and motor vehicle law, as well as several other areas.
Wilgenbusch has been assigned as a trooper at Post 10 in Oelwein, which includes Delaware, Dubuque, Buchanan, Clayton and Fayette counties. McNally has been assigned as a trooper at Post 12 in Stockton.
