HS Wrestling: West Delaware Opens New Year On The Road

The second half of the 2021-2022 wrestling season gets underway tonight, and West Delaware will be in Marion to take on the host Wolves and Center Point-Urbana. The last time the Hawks were in action they finished 3rd at the Battle of Waterloo going 1-2 in the championship bracket as they fell to Don Bosco and Waverly-Shell Rock by a total of five points, with their lone win coming against Indianola. They finished the first half of the season 7-3 and 3-0 in WaMaC competition and head coach Jeff Voss said the Battle of Waterloo was a good test for the team to give them things to work on during the break:

After seven duals in three days Voss says it was a good time for a break and the kids came back after Christmas ready to get back to work:

The Hawks will wrestle first and third tonight and will open with CP-U who they own a 6-0 all-time record against dating back to their first meeting in 2014 including two wins over the Pointers last season, in a dual at Center Point 67-10, and the other at the CP-U Duals where they shut them out 84-0. West Delaware will conclude their night against the host Marion Wolves who the Hawks have a long history with which dates back to their first meeting in 1958 in just the third season of West Delaware Wrestling. The Hawks lead the overall series 37-15 including last season’s 83-0 victory in Marion.
