Two Coggon residents were injured in a home invasion on Sunday night.
Authorities released more details about the incident on Monday afternoon.
The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says the victims were Joseph and Sandra Henderson, both 72 years old. They were transported to a local hospital, where Joseph remains hospitalized for his injuries.
The homeowners reported that someone knocked on their front door at 1828 Maple Way around 6:30 pm Sunday – and when they answered the door, he claimed to be a law enforcement officer and demanded entry into their home. Once inside, the intruder demanded money and physically assaulted Joseph and Sandra Henderson before fleeing the scene.
The Sheriff’s Office says this appears to be an isolated incident, specifically directed toward the victims. They have no reason to believe the public is in danger.
The suspect in the incident is described as a white male with a medium build, standing approximately 6’0 to 6’3. He fled the scene in a light-colored, 4-door sedan – the make and model of the vehicle is not known.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Linn County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-CS-CRIME or the Linn County Sheriff’s Office at 319-892-6250.
They’re also asking anyone who traveled on Maple Way in Coggon between 6:15 and 6:30 pm on Sunday, January 9th to contact investigators at the Sheriff’s Office.
